Free setup file

Give your AI a memory of your business.

Hand this file to Claude and it interviews you, then builds the rulebook, the memory, and a folder for each customer with you, so it stops starting from zero. It connects your first tools with read and draft access only, and it sets the safety settings that block it from reading your keys file. It's the setup file from our video How Our AI Knows Our Business, with everything else from the video. Made in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Get the setup file

We'll email you the link to the setup file and everything from the video. It's free, and it's yours to keep.

The link comes from nick@redwaterrev.com. You'll also get our newsletter on using AI in a local business. Every one of those emails has a one-click unsubscribe. This browser remembers your email, so your next download is one click. See our privacy policy.

How to use it

One folder, one line. Your AI does the rest.

Step 1

Make a folder

Make a new, empty folder on your computer and name it after your business. Put ai-memory-setup.md from the download inside it.

Step 2

Open it in Claude Code

Claude Code comes with Claude's paid plans. The easiest way in is the Code tab in the Claude desktop app. Open your new folder there.

Step 3

Type one line

Type the line below and answer its questions in plain English. If you don't know an answer, say so and it helps you find it.

Read ai-memory-setup.md and set me up.
What it builds

Everything it knows, in one folder you can open.

Here's the starter for a plumbing company. Yours gets the same shape, built from your answers.

├─ CLAUDE.mdthe rulebook: who you are, your never list
├─ memory/MEMORY.mdwhat it learns, one line each

│  └─ <customer-or-job>/call notes, and what you decided
├─ decisions.mdbusiness-wide calls, dated, with the why
└─ inbox/drop voice notes and call notes here

Before it answers anything, it reads the rulebook, checks its memory, and opens the folder for the customer you're asking about. That's why it stops asking you the same things twice. After every call or walkthrough, talk into your phone for a minute and drop the note in the inbox. It files it in the right folder.

Connections

You decide which doors it opens.

Start read-only. Let it draft. You hit send. Give it more only once it has earned it.

Sign-in

Use an authenticator app

Turn on two-step sign-in with an authenticator app or a passkey, not text messages. Start with your email account, then everything you connect.

Secrets

Never paste a secret into a chat

No passwords, keys, card numbers, or bank logins. Keys go in a private file that never gets uploaded. Logins go through the app's own sign-in window.

Sign-off

A person checks the big three

Prices, promises, and safety calls always go past a person before they reach a customer. It drafts; you decide.

The setup file has the longer version, including the setting that blocks Claude Code from reading your keys file. The download also has ai-security-rules.md, a second file you hand your AI after the setup. It adds written safety rules, makes risky commands stop and ask you first, checks your folder for exposed passwords and keys, and walks you through two-step sign-in account by account.

What's in the download

The setup file, and everything from the video.

Who it's for

Owners tired of re-explaining their business.

We're two brothers in Lake Charles who build AI tools for local businesses. The biggest hang-up we see is that AI never knows enough about you. It's always a context issue or a connections issue. This is how we fixed it for our own business, cut down to a starter any owner can set up in under an hour: plumbers, electricians, tree services, roofers, cleaners, and contractors in Lake Charles, Sulphur, Moss Bluff, Westlake, and anywhere else.

Once it's set up, our other free downloads fit right in. See them all on our free resources page, or look through our work to see what we build for paying clients.

Questions

Common questions.

Is it really free?

Yes. No card and no trial. The files are yours to keep and change.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You answer questions in plain English, a few at a time. Claude makes the folders and files, and it says what it's about to do before each step.

What do I need to get started?

A computer and Claude Code, which comes with Claude's paid plans. The easiest way in is the Code tab in the Claude desktop app. Plan on 30 to 45 minutes.

Will it send emails or change things on its own?

The setup file tells it to connect your tools with read and draft access only, and to draft instead of send unless you say send. Prices, promises, and safety calls go on its never list, so they come to you first.

Can it read my passwords?

Your keys go in a private file on your computer, and the setup adds a Claude Code setting that blocks it from reading that file. Never paste a password into the chat. Logins go through each app's own sign-in window.

Where do my notes live?

In plain files, in the folder on your computer, where you can open them too. Nothing comes to us. If you want a backup, the GitHub guide in the download walks you through a private online copy that only you and the people you invite can see.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

It's written for Claude Code. Another AI agent that works on files in a folder can follow most of it, but the settings steps are Claude Code's.

Can Redwater set this up for my business?

Yes. We're based in Lake Charles and build this kind of setup into local businesses, connected to the software you already use. Book an AI audit and we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth it for you.

Rather set it up with us?

Start with an AI audit. We'll map what your AI should know about your business, and which doors to open first.
